New apartments and a commercial addition to a South Side master-planned community are slated for San Antonio.While homebuilder filings for new subdivisions have been crowding the city planning commission’s dockets, commercial projects dominated this week’s agenda.A new apartment project from Alliance Residential is slated for the West Side. The project, called Prose Helotes, is part of what Alliance calls its workforce housing brand.Initial filings showed the project was due to kick off last year, but those plans were apparently waylaid. Scottsdale, Arizona-based Alliance did not return a request for comment on the project by publication.Keep up with the latest San Antonio headlines by signing up here for SABJ newsletters.The developer also planned Prose Evergreen in New Braunfels in June 2022, which was scheduled for a 24-month turnaround.Filings for a commercial tract were made at Lonesome Dove, a master-planned community on the South Side that intends to deliver 650 home lots on about 400 acres developed by a handful of property owners.Ron Smeberg, who began developing the community in 2017, told the Business Journal development would move along according to interest rates.The planning commission is also set to discuss plans for a new Texas A&M San Antonio Regional Center that will specify development guidelines in a 15-mile area around the burgeoning campus.
