Citing distinct need of units, Flagstaff city council moves Liv Timber Sky development forward

The proposed LIV Timber Sky project planned for the corner of Woody Mountain Road and Old Route 66 received preliminary approval from the Flagstaff City Council on Tuesday.The project, which is part of the larger Timber Sky master planned community being built by Vintage Partners, plans to bring 214 market-rate rental units on about 15 acres.Approval by city council came after the project was moved forward by the planning and zoning commission last month.Council’s support for the proposed development was unanimous, with discussion largely focusing on two gates that restricted vehicle access to large portions of the development, and around the issue of affordable housing.Mayor Becky Daggett asked why LIV Timber Sky, which will be managed by LIV Communities, doesn’t reserve any of its units as designated affordable housing. Walter Crutchfield, with Vintage Partners, pointed to other aspects of the overall Timber Sky master neighborhood that have areas designated as affordable.
