Westbound Interstate 10 was closed in Tempe on Thursday morning due to a homicide investigation, officials said.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said traffic was being forced to exit at Warner Road. The department’s AZ511 website appeared to indicate that the closure continued until Southern Avenue.
ADOT said there was no estimated time to reopen the lanes, likely affecting many East Valley drivers’ morning commutes.
Initial information from Tempe police was that the incident started at the Main Event in Tempe and ended at the Cobblestone Carwash where a 25-year-old female died.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety was investigating the homicide.
