Coming under new Arizona ownership, storied Stanley Hotel to partner with ‘iconic’ horror producer


Estes Park’s historic and haunted Stanley Hotel in Colorado — which is being acquired by an Arizona-based nonprofit — has landed a big new partner for its up-and-coming film center.Blumhouse — the multimedia company behind horror franchises including “Halloween”, “Get Out” and “Paranormal Activity” — said Jan. 26 that it will pull from its catalog of films, TV and gaming to curate more than 10,000 square feet of exhibit space at the Stanley Film Center, a $70 million, 67,000-plus square foot music and entertainment complex that will also serve as an homage to the horror film genre.Because the Stanley setting is known to have inspired Stephen King’s “The Shining” and has drawn ghost-seeking guests from around the world, project leaders saw the center as an opportunity to scale up the hotel’s place in the horror film universe.Blumhouse has produced more than 200 movies and television series with theatrical grosses of almost $6 billion at the worldwide box o …
