A brush fire was reported Friday in the area of Deer Creek, south of Payson.
PAYSON, Ariz. — Access to Arizona State Route 87 may be restricted on Friday due to a brush fire in the area of Deer Creek, south of Payson.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said SR-87 is restricted on both directions near milepost 234. The northbound side of SR-87 has reopened near Fountain Hills.
The Tonto National Forest said the brush fire is about 26 acres in size near milepost 234 and crews are working to contain the fire.
ADOT said there’s no estimated time for when the highway may reopen.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
