Mark Kelly and other officials praised the Inflation Reduction Act on the law’s one year anniversary, saying it is working as intended to bring clean-energy jobs to Arizona and tamp down consumer expenses.Arizona is expecting $10.8 billion invested in new clean-energy factories making batteries and related goods in the state, two-thirds of which have been announced since the IRA passed last year, and nearly all of which came after the related Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in 2021.Those new factories will employ 11,400 people if they all come to fruition, according to data released Wednesday by the Environmental Defense Fund, which sponsored the event.”We are building things like solar panels and electric vehicles, the renewable technologies that will reduce emissions and slow climate change,” Kelly, D-Ariz., said. “Arizona also is emerging as a hub for battery manufacturing thanks to the investment we made in the Inflation Reduction Act. … The Inflation Reduction Act is working as it was intended.”The legislation, signed Aug. 16, 2022, by President Joe Biden, is heralded as the largest investment in clean energy in U.S. history, with approximately $369 billion available for a variety of clean-energy projects. The investment in manufacturing and clean-energy production is coupled with about $300 billion to be spent reducing the federal budget deficit over the next decade.”Everybody likes to talk about bringing jobs back to America, but we are actually getting this done,” Kelly said. “These are good-paying jobs. These are jobs that you can actually raise a family on.”It’s not just Arizona. More than 80 major clean energy manufacturing facilities have been announced nationwide since the law was signed, representing about 30,000 new jobs to be created, according to the American Clean Power Association.Kelly said the law is equally as important because it helps …
