Evergreen Devco Inc. has expanded into the industrial sector for the first time after spending decades focused on retail and multifamily development.Brian Dietz, vice president of industrial development for Phoenix-based Evergreen Devco, said the company was previously considered one of the largest developers of Walgreens stores in the U.S. and in recent years has been building out mixed-use projects with retail and apartments.But Evergreen has been wanting to diversify its portfolio with another product type, namely industrial, he said.”It’s another very dynamic commercial real estate product type. It’s probably the healthiest right now of any product type,” Dietz said. “We wanted to start an industrial platform for that reason.”The company picked a site within a fast-growing industrial corridor in the West Valley — just north of Luke Air Force Base in Surprise — for its industrial debut.
