Salt River Project (SRP) has proposed the South Mountain Transmission (SMT) Project to support future development along the South Mountain Freeway in Laveen, Arizona.
SRP is requesting public feedback and will host one in-person and two virtual open houses for the public to learn more about the project and provide input.
The City of Phoenix is planning for future development in Laveen that could include a mix of land uses, such as an industrial and tech park, retail, hospitals, hotels and resorts, residential areas, and other new businesses that could bring high-paying jobs.

SRP is preparing an application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility for the 230-kV lines with the Arizona Corporation Committee (ACC). As part of that process, SRP will attend public hearings with the Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee before seeking final approval from the ACC.
SRP has scheduled one in-person and two virtual open house events for the public to learn more about the proposed project and provide feedback.
