Arizona developers sue Hobbs administration over groundwater conservation efforts


A group that represents residential developers is suing the Hobbs administration over what it says are illegal rules that stopped some new construction because of concerns Arizona’s groundwater cannot keep up.Lawyers at the Goldwater Institute filed the lawsuit Wednesday in Maricopa County on behalf of the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona. It says the Arizona Department of Water Resources has illegally stopped unnamed developers from getting certificates needed to build, and asks a judge to invalidate the department’s rules.
