This month, in fact right about this week, marks 30 years since I first set food in the Grand Canyon State. I was about to start a new job in New York in a couple weeks way back in 1994; my parents had moved here in April 1993, and I couldn’t think of a better time to visit them in their new home before wading into my new adventure in the Big Apple.I had grown up, as many probably have, under the impression that Arizona meant desert. Period. “I’m sure it’s a nice little place they have, with a sand-and-gravel yard,” I thought.
