Los Mayos from Liga Arco Mexicana del Pacífico will start this winter season in Tucson instead of Navojoa, Sonora.
PHOENIX — Tucson is the new home for Los Mayos for the winter baseball season this year, according to the Liga Arco Mexicana del Pacífico.
The team will be the first baseball team in the Mexican league, LAMP, to play outside Mexico, and their new home in Tucson will be the Kino Sports Complex.
The previous home for Los Mayos was Navojoa, Sonora.

A new name will be given to the team, according to Víctor Cuevas, one of the presidents of the team.
“We’re leaving due to complicated situations during the past few years. It’s a decision that hurts, but it’s a new challenge,” said Cuevas in a press release.
The team’s website published a message thanking the fans for their support and “loyalty during good and bad times.”
The message states that the team leaves but will always “be proud to have represented Navojoa with dignity, dedication, and heart.”
“This goodbye does not erase our history. Los Mayos lived thanks to you. And even when we’re not on the field, your love will always live in our legacy.”
The schedule for the games has not been released yet, but the Pacific League is a winter league that usually starts in October.
