One of the hot names on the wide receiver boards for the 2025 NFL draft is Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan. It doesn’t take a lot to get scout’s attention when you catch 174 passes for 2,719 yards and 18 touchdown in your last two collegiate seasons. This is a player who thrived in the Pac-12 in 2023 when the Wildcats were in that conference. He continued to dominate in 2024 when Arizona moved to the Big 12. This is one big target that many NFL teams would love to add to their WR room.

McMillan had 84 catches for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024. This was Arizona’s first year in the Big 12 and it was the wideout second-best of three college seasons. In 2023, he had 90 catches for 1,402 yards and 10 touchdowns. One thing to remember, Arizona went from a 10-3 under Jedd Fisch to a 4-8 squad coached by Brent Brennan.

According to NFL scouts: McMillan is versatile enough to play in many sports as a wideout, whether the X-receiver or power slot. He’s got strong hands and a huge catch radius, which can’t be taught. Good route runner who puts his volleyball and basketball background to use when it comes to reaching for passes. Thanks to his size and strength, he is able to shed tacklers — 29 broken tackles in 2024  — and that means he know how to gain YAC.

A lack of speed and physicality has come to the front on many reviews of McMillan. There is some fear he doesn’t explode off the ball at the snap and will not be able to create separation from the great DBs in the NFL. One post quoted an AFC scouting director who said: “He got hurt in the spring and I don’t know that he ever made it back to 100 percent. The 2023 tape gives you a better idea of who he is.”

Kiper isn’t as gung-ho on McMillan as a lot of other people. In one of his mock drafts he has had the Arizona star going 20th. In another one he has him falling to 22md. Time will tell.

Don’t expect McMillan to be waiting past the second half of the first round to hear his name called. There were mock drafts that had him in the top five or six picks but as time goes on it seems the teams with those picks either have another need or don’t see the wideout as a game-breaker. He’s been projected as low as 26th. The mock draft guessing game continues.
