
For the first time since their inception in 1992, the Arizona Rattlers will play all of their home games in Glendale.The franchise announced Monday that they are moving their home from Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix to Desert Diamond Arena. The 2024 season starts in March.Glendale isn’t new for the Rattlers, who have played in several playoff games in past years when there were scheduling conflicts with Footprint Center. Then-called Gila River Arena in Glendale hosted the 2019 United Bowl with 14,635 fans attending the Rattlers’ 56-53 loss to the Sioux Falls Storm.“We’re thrilled to build this new relationship and for the move to Glendale,” Rattlers owner Ron Shurts said in a release. “It’s going to be a great venue for us, and our fans love it out there. The Westgate district is incredible and the west side of town is now officially the Football Capital of Arizona.”We’re proud to be front and center of Desert Diamond Arena and look forward to growing that relationship. The Rattlers have won six championships, the first five while playing in the Arena Football League. Guy led the Rattlers to three consecutive ArenaBowl championships. Their last win at home for a championship came in 1997, under Danny White, who led the Rattlers to their first title in 1994, when the Orlando Predators hosted the game.”Desert Diamond Arena is going to provide the ultimatum fan experience and new perks for our season-ticket holders and corporate partners,” Guy said. “As we continue to grow as an organization, I believe the timing is perfect because the West Valley is booming.”We appreciate the relationship we had with the Suns and Footprint Center for over 30 years.
