A Des Plaines resident’s second home in Arizona was put up for sale by a scammer using a fake ID, authorities said Monday.
The 69-year-old resident called police Friday after discovering the house listed on a real estate website, according to a Des Plaines police news release.
A fake Illinois driver’s license that had the victim’s name, address and license number was used to create the listing Wednesday or Thursday, police said.
The photo and birthday on the license, however, were not the victim’s.
The Des Plaines man requested the real estate company delete the listing, police said.
“Since the listing was taken down, we do not believe it was actually sold,” officer Jennifer Nelson said.
