Jamie Hormel carries on legacy of late husband, plans Wrigley Mansion expansions


Jamie Hormel and her late husband Geordie Hormel — heir of Minnesota-based Hormel Foods Corp. — moved to Arizona in 1991 from California, buying the Wrigley Mansion a year later for $2.6 million.”Somebody told Geordie it was going to be torn down and made into condos,” said Hormel. “It reminded him of the home he grew up in Austin, Minnesota. It had that great vibe that reminded him of the 1930s.”After his father died, Geordie bought the family mansion in Minnesota and turned it into a hotel and restaurant, she said.”It was natural for him to do the same thing with the Wrigley,” she said. But Wrigley doesn’t have hotel beds, she said.”We have turned all the rooms upstairs into private dining rooms,” she said.The Wrigley Mansion is part of two homeowners associations, which require that the mansion be operated as a private club.Today, t …
