Bethesda e-commerce company Liquidity Services acquires Arizona auction house


Liquidity Services Inc., a Bethesda e-commerce company that brokers sales of surplus goods for corporations and government agencies, has kicked off the new year by acquiring an Arizona auction house that specializes in helping local governments sell off seized or forfeited assets.The deal for Phoenix-based Sierra Auction, announced Wednesday, accelerates Liquidity Services’ expansion in the Southwest, which the company has identified as a key growth market. Sierra, founded in 1986, is the sole auction outlet for many state and government agencies in Arizona and also has contracts with numerous charities to auction donated vehicles. “This transaction enhances our business with immediate access to a growing portfolio of clients in the attractive southwestern U.S. surplus market… and increases our network of buyers for used vehicles and high-value equipment,” Bill Angrick, Liquidity Services’ chairman and CEO, said in a statement.Li …
