6 things to know about Purdue sports this week

The Boilers will host Kansas State, Friday at 7 p.m., in the second game of the Stacey Clark Classic. The Classic is an annual weekend of preseason volleyball games hosted by Purdue at Holloway Gymnasium.UC Davis and UMBC kickoff the classic at 3 p.m. on Friday before Purdue plays its first official contest of the season at 7 p.m.Purdue is 2-1 against Kansas State all-time, but it’s been 15 years since the Boilers have faced the Wildcats.The Boilermakers also play the UMBC Retrievers, Saturday at 7 p.m., and UC Davis Sunday at 2 p.m. All of this weekend’s games will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.Friday’s game will mark the beginning of the program’s 50th season.

As the first football game day of the fall nears, opportunities to see the team in action are dwindling.Less than 2,000 tickets remain for the home opener against Indiana State. The in-state showdown between the Boilers and Notre Dame on Sept. 14 is already sold out.With over 40,000 season ticket holders and another year of sold out boarding passes, Ross-Ade Stadium is poised to be packed all season.

Tickets to see Purdue Basketball in the Circle City are on sale now.The Boilers will play Texas A&M and Butler will face Wisconsin in the Indy Classic on Dec. 14 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.According to a press release from Indiana Sports Corp., tickets are starting as low as $50 for the chance to see both matchups.Last year’s tickets to the Indy Classic sold out.Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster and at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse box office.New additions to track and field coaching staffFour new faces will join head coach Tony Miller’s personnel according to a press release from Purdue Athletics.
