Arizona Humane Society to reopen Sunnyslope campus amid overcapacity crisis


PHOENIX (AZFamily) —The Arizona Humane Society is reopening its Sunnyslope Campus in Phoenix due to an overcapacity crisis at shelters.The Sunnyslope campus is located at 9226 N 13th Avenue in Phoenix, just south of Hatcher Road.“Our overcapacity challenges are persistent and chronic and while we never intended needing to utilize the Sunnyslope Campus for adoption or foster operations again, it was clear this space could still be a vital resource and lifeline for pets in our community who have no place else to go,” said Dr. Steven Hansen, President and CEO of AHS.AHS says expanding the Sunnyslope Campus will create more kennel space for sick, injured and abused pets.“We’ve also seen a recent increase in abandoned pets at all of our campus locations.
