The City of Prescott is continuing repairs to Highway 89 between the Phippen Roundabout and the Willow Lake Road Roundabout, due to an unexpected effluent line leak. Repairs to the road surface are expected to take two to three weeks. A detour has been posted using Willow Creek Road and Willow Lake Road. No businesses are affected, and all residential neighborhoods in the area are accessible.According to Deputy Public Works Director Janet Ramsay, this was a major leak that caused extensive damage to the road surface making it unsafe. “The water traveled under the asphalt causing sinkholes, some of which may not be visible until all the asphalt is removed,” said Ramsay. “So even bikes and pedestrians should not go through the barricades. We have engaged a contractor who will help make the repairs including pipe and asphalt. While we do not yet have a timeline, we anticipate at least two to three weeks for repairs to be completed.”
