Parts of I-17, I-10 and Loop 202 to close for ongoing weekend construction projects


PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Heads up, drivers — another round of weekend construction will shut down Valley freeways. Plan ahead if you are thinking about heading out of town or driving to central Phoenix or the East Valley this weekend.According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, parts of I-17, I-10 and the Loop 202 will be closed for ongoing construction projects.Here are the closures for Sept. 6-9:Northbound I-17 closed at Jomax Road and narrowed to one lane between Jomax Road and Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement improvements.Westbound I-10 closed between US 60 (Superstition Freeway) and the I-17 “Split” interchange near Sky Harbor Airport from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for construction. Westbound I-10 on-ramps at Elliot and Baseline roads and westbound US 60 on-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road and Mill Avenue will close beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday.Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) is closed between Williams Field Road and Gilbert Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project. Westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Higley Road will close.Southbound State Route 51 ramp to eastbound Loop 202 and westbound I-10 will shut down from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday for bridge maintenance.Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard is shut down in both directions at Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for lane striping.Areas that will be narrowed for construction projects:Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to three lanes (right lanes closed) between Dobson and Gilbert roads from 9 p.m. Friday to …
