Interstate 17 roads near Anthem area scheduled for resurfacing this weekend

PHOENIX — Crews are scheduled to resurface the Interstate 17 roads between Carefree Highway and Anthem Way starting this weekend.
The improvements won’t require immediate lane restrictions or full lane closures along the I-17, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
Details on I-17 improvement road project
The $15.1 million freeway project will improve cross street sidewalks and add new guardrail near the Anthem Way interchange.

Drivers should expect both on- and off-ramp closures as crews work on the roads.
Coming up in August, night crews will begin stripping the top layer of existing pavement with fresh asphalt.
Other improvements will include sealed bridge decks, new signs and guardrail, highway shoulder repairs, the installation of drainage pipes and new pavement markings.
ADOT plans to complete all the road upgrades by spring 2026.
The project was funded by the federal National Highway Performance Program.
