A brush fire burned north of Fountain Hills prompted highway closures on Sunday afternoon.According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the southbound lanes of State Route 87 were closed around 4:30 p.m. near Payson as a result of the Sand Stone. The highway is now closed from SR 188 to Bush Highway.There was no estimated time for the southbound lanes to reopen. The northbound lanes were unaffected as of 7 p.m. Sunday.As of Sunday evening, the Sand Stone fire has burned about 13,000 acres.
