The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency has agreed to a $55 million settlement after it demanded benefits back from workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.The preliminary settlement reached April 25 resolves a class-action lawsuit brought two years ago from workers who said they faced collections without due process. Under the agreement, the state will also make changes to how it collects on overpaid benefits.
