Unemployment dropped in the surrounding counties in October, according to the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.

LIMA — Unemployment dropped in the surrounding counties in October, according to the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.
Unemployment rates (from lowest to highest) in October were:
• Putnam County: 2.6 percent
• Auglaize County: 2.7 percent
• Van Wert County: 2.7 percent
• Allen County: 3.6 percent
• Hardin County: 3.7 percent
Each of the five counties saw drops in unemployment rates from September to October, and two have consistently decreased since August (Van Wert and Hardin).
Putnam, Auglaize, and Van Wert are three of 14 Ohio counties with sub-3 percent rates.
Of 88 counties in Ohio, unemployment rates lowered in 83 from September to October.
Ohio’s unemployment rate of 4.3 percent is just behind the national average of 4.1 percent.
