DETROIT – An Allen Park man will spend more than five years in prison for defrauding the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency of over half a million dollars during the COVID-19 pandemic.Christopher Niebel, 45, was sentenced to 63 months in prison Thursday, May 30 after he pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft earlier this year, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan Dawn Ison announced. He was also sentenced to three years supervised release and ordered to pay $512,000 in restitution.
