
A new report from the Tax Foundation ranked Arizona No. 15 in the nation for its tax competitiveness. The think tank pointed to the Grand Canyon State’s low income tax rate as a draw for new residents coming from more costlier places.Arizona’s move up in the ranking this year continues a gradual trend of increasing competitiveness over the years. In 2020 and 2021, Arizona was at No. 19 on the index. During the past two years it was at No. 16.The Tax Foundation’s 2025 State Tax Competitiveness Index, now it its 21st year, is based on an analysis of over 150 variables from five taxation areas — corporate, individual income, sales/excise, property/wealth and unemployment insurance.
