A year ago, we shared an article for the Business Journal on the heels of President Joe Biden’s visit to Arizona to celebrate the progress on TSMC’s chip manufacturing facility in North Phoenix. Arizona was hailed as a hub for innovation, particularly due to companies like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and Intel making massive investments in their manufacturing capabilities right here in the Grand Canyon State. Since then, Arizona’s already-robust innovation economy exploded, and we have seen the flywheel effect from these kinds of investments spin out across the state. Most recently within the semiconductor industry, chip manufacturers like Amkor and suppliers like ASM announced major expansion projects in Peoria and Scottsdale, respectively. In other technology-related news, GPEC led a consortium of 25 public, private, and academic partners that received a federal Tech Hubs Strategy Development Grant to advance …
