Comments sought for ADOT 5-year Construction Plan


TUCSON — Southeastern Arizona will have a chance to offer in-person comments on Arizona Department of Transportation’s five-year construction plan before the comment period ends.

The State Transportation Board will hold a public meeting on the proposed plan Friday, May 17, in Tucson, starting at 9 a.m. Those who can’t travel can participate via teleconference at Home | Arizona State Transportation Board (aztransportationboard.gov).

Graham County projects in the plan include:

$4.4 million in Fiscal Year 2025 to construct a 1.2-mile passing lane on U.S. Highway 70, in Bylas

$1 million in FY25 and $20.7 million in FY28 for five miles of pavement rehabilitation on U.S. Highway 70, between Cottonwood Wash and Reay Lane, in Graham County

$17.3 million in FY26 for five miles of pavement rehabilitation of U.S. Highway 70, between Reay Lane and 8th Street, in Safford and Thatcher

Greenlee County has one project in the plan:

$500,000 in FY27 and $1.5 million in FY29 for Rattlesnake Bridge rehabilitation on U.S. Highway 191, near Three Way

There are four projects in northern Cochise County:

$4.8 million in FY25 to replace the scale and construct an inspection pit at the San Simon Port-of-Entry in I-10

$2 million in FY25 for bridge rehabilitation on I-10 east of Willcox

$41.3 million in FY25 to replace the Railroad Overpass Bridge, in Cochise

$41.3 million in FY26 for 12 miles of pavement rehabilitation on I-10 west of Bowie
