We came to Arizona to shine a light on the many local small businesses who sell in Amazon’s store, and to help local leaders connect the dots back to the successful small businesses that are thriving in their communities,” Angelillo said.Mesa’s accidental entrepreneurPurvi Desai, who was born in India, grew up watching women make their own natural face care lotions to keep their skin looking young. In 2010, her kitchen table became a place where she would combine common household ingredients, like yogurt, turmeric and chickpeas to create skin care products. Soon, she was at local farmer’s markets.“When customers kept coming back and asking for more and more products, I decided to go full-time with the business. We started our shop on Amazon in 2014, just to see if there was any online market,” she said.Zaaina was born, and the growth spurt in the past half-dozen years has been significant.
