Homebuilder exec named board chair of Arizona Community Foundation


Charley Freericks, the Arizona region president for homebuilder Howard Hughes Holdings Inc., has been elected as board chair of the Arizona Community Foundation.A member of the ACF board since 2014, Freericks succeeds Leezie Kim, the chief legal officer for Valley-based Fox Restaurant Concepts LLC, who had served as board chair since 2023.Freericks was named market president for Texas-based Howard Hughes in 2024, succeeding Heath Melton, who left the real estate development and management giant earlier that year and later joined Houston-based Juniper Capital as chief development officer.A real estate industry veteran with more than 40 years of experience in large-scale community development throughout Arizona, Freericks is in charge of developing the 37,000-acre Teravalis master-planned community that will provide 100,000 homes for 300,000 residents, along with 55 million square feet of commercial development.The ACF is a lynchpin of the state’s nonprofit sector, doling out millions of dollars annually raised from private donors and corporations to nonprofits, schools and government agencies across the state. Ranked among the top community foundations in the country, the ACF manages some $1.3 billion in assets.“Charley has been deeply involved with ACF during his nine years on our board and was instrumental in the development of our current strategic plan,” said Anna María Chávez, ACF’s president and CEO, in a statement. “As we near 50 years of dedicated service to our community, we look forward to the next 50 with great anticipation.
